Deluge: BitTorrent Client

I have recently replaced uTorrent with Transmission as my BitTorrent client. However, although Transmission is very light and easy to use, it is a bit too basic and I miss some of the features found in uTorrent. I personally don't like running windows apps in Wine, I'd rather run a native application. While browsing the net, I came across a program which seems to meet all my specifications.

Deluge is a full-featured BitTorrent client which is available for Linux, Windows and Mac. It features a collection of plugins which provide most of the functionality of Deluge. One of its nicest features is encryption enabled as default. Here is an overview of Deluge's features.

  • Web UI
  • BitTorrent Protocol Encryption
  • Mainline DHT
  • Local Peer Discovery (aka LSD)
  • FAST protocol extension
  • µTorrent Peer Exchange
  • UPnP and NAT-PMP
  • Proxy support
  • Web seed
  • Private Torrents
  • Global and per-torrent speed limits
  • Configurable bandwidth scheduler
  • Password protection
  • RSS
  • And much more!

  2. It should be vista compatible but I think there might be some minor issues with some plugins.
